Our Meetings
September Meeting at Attunga NSW (near Tamworth)
The Attunga meeting from the 1st - 3rd September 2006 was absolutely great for the members in the 12 vehicles that attended. The venue on the baseball oval next to the sports club house provided a great flat area and electricity for those that needed it. Hot showers and clean toilets were an added bonus.
The nights were quite cold but the portable fires made from converted gas bottles provided bodily warmth - whilst the beverages at happy hour and the conversations warmed the spirits. I have never heard the ladies laugh so much.
Reg gave an introduction to satellite free to air television and how to set up the equipment. Elsa provided some excellent genuine Italian pasta for the lunch on Sunday before our meeting. It was simply delicious.
In total it was a brilliant weekend.

Boggabri Showground
Kyber in October
Our October meeting was held on the property "Kyber" just north of Carroll on the Oxley Highway and our thanks must go to the Boggabri Gunnedah Gun Club for the use of this fantastic spot. Several of the campers were on travelling to Mudgee and this venue provided a nice stepping stone on the way. The large covered shelter provided respite from the hot sun and the cool water of the Namoi River was even appealing to some for a swim. The River Gums were magnificent and although it was hot we all avoided the temptation of parking under their shade just in case one decided to shed a large branch. A couple of gents went fishing, caught a few shrimp but not an edible fish made the dinner table. However the camaraderie was once again great. Between all the laughter and story telling Alan stole the show by teaching a couple of young ladies how to line-dance “the Moonbi way.” What a showman there wasn’t a straight face in the crowd.
Once again I am amazed at the friendliness of the nomads from the North West.
November Meeting
Buon giorno,
Our gathering for November was enjoyed at Moonbi Heights with our hosts Allan and Julie, who made sure everyone felt completely at home. The weather couldn’t make up its mind and when Reg arrived he was so tired that he had to rest the bus against a telegraph pole … but things did get better. “The Cottage” quickly took on the aroma of an Italian kitchen and Elsa proved to be a grandioso chef by making homemade pasta whilst Max and the girls were a willing lavoratori. Everyone simply over indulged and enjoyed the eccellente food. Laughter took over the gathering and I have never seen a more sparkling face filled with delight than that of Lila’s. Another fantastic weekend and our thanks is extended to our hosts and cooks.
Arrivederci.
